About

American skullcap (Scutellaria lateriflora) contains baicalin and scutellarein, flavonoids that bind GABA-A receptors and demonstrate anxiolytic properties. A small double-blind study found it significantly reduced anxiety compared to placebo. Its calming effects may support sleep onset in anxious individuals.

How It Works

Baicalin and scutellarein bind GABA-A receptor benzodiazepine site; flavonoids inhibit glutamate release; antioxidant and anti-inflammatory neuroprotective effects.
