Mechanisms of Action GSH

Glutathione

The body's master antioxidant, a tripeptide produced in every cell.

Glutathione (GSH) is a tripeptide (glutamate-cysteine-glycine) produced in every cell and serving as the body's primary endogenous antioxidant. It directly neutralizes free radicals, regenerates other antioxidants (vitamins C and E), supports detoxification via glutathione S-transferase conjugation reactions, and maintains immune function. Oral glutathione supplementation has poor bioavailability, as it is largely degraded in the gut. NAC (N-acetylcysteine) provides the rate-limiting cysteine precursor for glutathione synthesis and is the preferred supplementation strategy. Liposomal and S-acetyl glutathione forms may improve oral absorption.
